One of my favorite shoots for “Winelands of Colorado” was photographing the High Family (from Colterris Winery). Theresa and Scott High and their children are one of Palisade’s most notable families and Colterris, besides being magnificently beautiful, is the largest estate winery in Colorado. I recently returned to Colorado in anticipation of launching our beloved book (June 16th at Wine Country Inn) and Theresa and Scott introduced me to the new addition the family….CANterris! Although I’m a pretty traditional type, I thought this product was really fun so I thought I’d share it with you.

”Canterris” is the only vintage dated 100% Colorado “wine in the can from the Colorado land” available anywhere. Wine-in-a-can is a new trend that divides a lot of wine-drinkers but it’s proving very popular with millennials – the wine is great and it’s a convenient and non-stuffy way to drink it. “CANvenient” as Theresa likes to say! I imagine it will be very popular with outdoor-lifestyle drinking, especially in Colorado where everyone is cycling, hiking, boating, hot-springing and pool-side-chilling.

CANTERRIS is very CANvenient for wine CANnoisseurs having serious CANversations with CANtankerous persons!

The cans come in 4-packs and are also sold individually at the two tasting room locations at the Colterris Winery and Colterris Overlook. They are also available around the State of Colorado in most liquor and wine stores and restaurants where the rest of the COLTERRIS wines can be found as well.

The varietals available are Rose of Cabernet Sauvignon, White Wine and Red Wine and all have the magic touch of winemakers Bo Felton and Justin Jannusch.

I popped past to photograph the team bottling…no wait..canning the wine for its first production. With so many cans there was a scoreboard, marked when anyone dropped a can (together with a good dose of laughing). I didn’t make the list thank goodness – I’m sure there was a creative price to pay! I also got to see their new wine tasting room and new outside seating area which I thought was great, I’ll definitely be hanging out there a lot.
